The Villages, the newest fishing lodge on Christmas Island, opened its doors in June 2006. Ideally located on the pristine white sands of Discovery Beach and facing the prevailing easterly breezes that are common to the island. FacilitiesThe Villages is limited to 12 guests. The simple and pleasant air-conditioned bungalows each with private baths, comfortable beds and porches with views of the beach will be your home for the week. Rooms are furnished with screen windows, 110v power outlets, and refrigerators. Also under porches are spin and fly rods racks and water tap for washing rods with fresh water. The maneaba in the center of the lodge, is a meeting area offering a comfortable South Seas atmosphere where guests return each evening after fishing to tell stories and to plan the next days adventure. The main building lies in the heart of the complex, with the dining room, waiting lounge, reception desk, gift shop, and bar.
ServicesThe staff are well-trained, service-minded and someone is always available to take care of guest needs. The lodge chef prepares delicious dinners combining South Seas cuisine and western dishes. A full hot breakfast is served each morning before fishing and guests prepare a sandwich lunch of their choice from a small buffet to be put in their cooler each day. Meal schedule for fishermen can vary with tide phases. Beers, pure water, soft drinks and snacks are part of the refrigerator stocks in all rooms. The restaurant opens from 6:00am-8:30am for breakfast, 11:30am-1:30pm for lunch, and 7:00pm-9:30pm for dinner. The bar hours are from 6:00am -7:00am, 9:30am-2:00pm, and 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Telephone and internet service is available at the reception counter upon request. Renter cars/saloons service and skiff hire/boat hire is also available at the front counter.
